This diecast aluminium enclosure is ATEX and IECEx approved, making it suitable for use in explosive atmospheres and offers an IP66 level of ingress protection, meaning it offers a high level of protection against dust, debris and liquids. The IK09 shock rated enclosure is suitable for use across various applications in the process control, automation and mining industries.

An IP rating classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact and water in electrical enclosures. The first number indicates the protection from solids and the second number is the protection from liquids.

This enclosure has an IP66 rating and offers the enclosure total protection from dust and debris and permits limited water and liquid ingress. This unit could be used outside, however regular checks are advised to ensure the enclosure still protects up to standard.

The ATEX directive consists of two EU directives describing what equipment and work space is allowed in an environment with an explosive atmosphere.
