RS PRO Double Bastard Cut Three Square File with Soft Grip Handle
Introducing the double bastard cut three square file from our own brand RS PRO, a high quality one piece hand tool ideal for starting the process of turning circular drill holes into squares as well as shaping and deburring internal angles and corners in a range of materials.
This professional three square hand file from RS PRO is manufactured from high carbon content steel, offering a highly durable and reliable file with prolonged life that can withstand extensive use in a range of environments. The file features double cut surfaces and single cut edges with diagonal cut teeth on top of each other, allowing for more aggressive removal of stock material with higher pressure achievable. The double cut file also features bastard cut coarseness, assisting with a more aggressive and rapid approach of removing stock whilst still producing a fairly smooth finish. The edges and surfaces of the file are also tapered towards the tip allowing for gradual filing and deburring to be achieved, making it perfect for working with narrow spaces.
The RS PRO double bastard cut three square file is accompanied with an ergonomic soft grip handle, helping to enhance comfort and control allowing you to get the most out of the file with minimal effort. The handle also includes a hanging hole allowing the file to be attached to a tool storage wall mount panel or cabinet when not in use, helping to protect the file from damage or from being misplaced.

Application
Three square files are a type of filing hand tool commonly used with internal angles and corners, as well as starting the process of turning circular holes into square notches in range of materials. They are available with various cut surfaces including single, double and rasp with the addition of varying coarseness including bastard, second and smooth. The combination of cut and coarseness defines the type of finish that can be achieved. Three square hand files are available in a variety of sizes to cater for specific applications from removing excess stock rapidly to deburring materials with fine detail in tight spaces.
Three square files are ideal for creating accurate and precise 60° angles due to their equilateral cross section and are commonly used in areas such as:
• Welding
• Industrial
• Plumbing
• Automotive
• Metalwork

FAQs
What is meant by double cut surfaces?
Double cut refers to the teeth of the cut. A second cut file features two sets of teeth that create a cross type pattern, forming double cut teeth. A double cut file features medium weight teeth and is ideal for removing a moderate amount of stock quickly.
What is bastard cut?
Bastard cut refers to the coarseness of the file, other types include second cut and smooth cut. Files with a bastard cut feature teeth that are coarse allowing for rapid removal of stock material whilst still producing a relatively smooth finish.
How to maintain your file
In order to ensure your files remain sharp and work to their full potential, it is essential to regularly clean and maintain them. A file card or wire brush are recommended as they can remove debris and build up between the teeth of a file efficiently, without damaging them.
What is the overall length of the file?
The overall length of this file is 200 mm.
