Scotch-Brite™ Roloc™+ Cut & Polish Flap Brush PF-ZR Brown 75mm x 35mm
Scotch-Brite™ Roloc™ Cut and Polish Flap Brush uses tough durable aluminium oxide mineral and our unique non-woven web design of blended synthetic fibres and abrasive particles in a conformable, three-dimensional material. These brushes provide a smooth and polished finish.
Use Scotch-Brite™ Roloc™ Cut and Polish Flap Brush for deburring, blending and finishing a variety of substrates in woodworking and metalworking.
These brushes are made with an aluminium oxide mineral, a sharp cutting and durable abrasive which continually self-fractures during use to expose fresh cutting edges and provide a smooth consistent finish – unlike traditional abrasives, such as garnet, which quickly wear down with use. This high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention makes aluminium oxide mineral ideal for sanding and finishing applications. It can be used on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Scotch-Brite Roloc Cut and Polish Flap Brushes are engineered to conform to the substrate, so they are a good option for working inside diameters and for blending surface imperfections. The open, flexible flap construction makes the brush soft and pliable and helps to produce uniform finishes. The brushes give a smooth consistent finish, without the risk of overworking or damaging the part.

Features and Benefits
• Aluminium oxide mineral easily removes surface imperfections, helping to cut faster
• Easy abrasive wheel attachment Heavy-duty design for a longer brush life
• Load resistant open web helps produce a consistent finish
• Open web conforms to substrate to minimise gouging

Applications
The Scotch-Brite™ Radial Bristle Brush features 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain technology blended with Aluminium oxide and moulded into flexible bristles. This brush allows for more surface contact than wire brushes and continually self-sharpens so the abrasive doesn't dull over time. Use this brush to help remove paint, stains, adhesives, weld burns, rust, heavy oxides, and surface contaminants.
• Proprietary 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain blend provides high degree of finish quality throughout the life of the disc
• Cleans with minimal pressure
• Works well on aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and other metals
• Use for finishing, polishing, deburring, and providing uniform finishes around protrusions, detail grooves, patterns, and other hard-to-reach areas.

Are flap discs more effective than standard abrasive discs?
While both discs can be used for wood and metal surfaces, flap discs are better suited for use with metal. Abrasive discs are better at removing material from a surface, but for grinding metal surfaces, flap disc presents a more durable and long-lasting solution. They even have some advantages over grinding wheels in that, while they may not remove metal as aggressively, they are slightly safer to use and produce less sparks.
What is the difference between flap discs and flap wheels?
Flat discs are designed to be used with hand-held equipment such as angle-grinders, to be moved over a surface or medium that needs to be sanded or polished. Flap wheels were originally designed to be used with a static machine such as a fixed buffing machine, where the medium is used against the belt. However, flap wheels can also be used on handheld rotary tools such as electric drills. A flap wheel strikes a surface in a less regular way that a flap disc, meaning there are less uniform scratches, which is desirable particularly for metal buffing and polishing. They also last longer than conventional discs as the flaps wear from the outside in, rather than consistently across a disc surface. Conventional flap discs, however, may present a more cost-effective solution for less specialized applications.
How should these wheels be stored?
In order to keep them in ideal condition, flap discs should be stored flat, avoiding damp and frost or wide temperature variations.

What safety requirements should I observe?
When grinding metal or sanding, appropriate personal protection equipment should be worn. Gloves, eye protection and even respiratory protection are essential PPE for general purpose grinding and polishing applications.
For safe operation of an angle grinder, be sure you have participated in appropriate training and are aware of all safety advice relevant to the material you are working on.
