900-Piece Black Oxide Finish Steel Rounded Point Slotted Socket Screw Kit
From the trusted RS PRO brand, this set of high-quality socket screws have a slotted drive and a black oxide finish. Socket screws are tightened using an Allan or Hex key, making them ideal for use in applications where externally wrenched fasteners are not practical because of a lack of space. This set of screws includes very small screws that are measured to BA thread sizes (British Association), and these are commonly used in intricate applications, such as miniature instrumental equipment and modelling.
In this kit, you will find a range of 900 socket screws with slotted sockets for Allan or hex keys. The kit includes thread sizes of M1.6, M2, M2.5, 6BA, 8BA and 10BA with lengths ranging from 6mm to 30mm and 1/8in to 3/8in.
Features and Benefits
- Slotted socket screws to BS4219 and BS768 standards
- Steel screws
- Range of sizes in both M and BA thread sizes
- Supplied in a polypropylene case with a hinged lid
- Black oxide finish provides corrosion resistance
Applications
The strength of steel due to its carbon content makes it a versatile component material that can withstand wear and tear. The black oxide finish provides a resistance to corrosion and wear, granting these screws the same qualities as their stainless steel counterparts.
Compared to ordinary fasteners, fewer socket screws of the same size can achieve an equal clamping force in a joint. As fewer screws are required for a given job, fewer holes are required to be drilled and tapped, as well as reducing the overall project weight as fewer, smaller screws are used.
Screws of the sizes provided in this kit are used in intricate applications, such as:
- Small instrumental equipment, such as speedometers
- Modelling
Frequently Asked Questions
What Does M2.5, M3, M3.5, M4, M5, etc. mean?
These measurements are found on metric screws, The 'M' stands for Metric. The number after the 'M' is the nominal outer diameter of the screw in mm.
What does 0BA, 1BA, 2BA, etc. mean?
BA thread sizes are an almost obsolete set of small screw threads that are still used for very specific types of miniature screws, such as those used in modelling or in small instrumental applications like automotive speedometers.
