Its compact size and combination of metals allow it to respond rapidly to temperature changes. The unit has an SPST (single pole, single throw) construction, so it acts as an on-off switch. It's actuated by a snap-action bi-metal disc that's temperature-sensitive. This triggers the normally-closed (NC) contacts when surface or ambient temperatures reach the operational set point of +70°C.
