This RS PRO capacitive barrel type sensor is an electronic device you can use to detect and measure metallic and non-metallic objects with no physical contact. The sensor uses an electrical field, allowing you to detect and measure metal and non-metal objects as well as contents inside non-metallic containers.
The sensor's housing is made from nickel-copper alloy to ensure strength, durability and resistance to corrosion. The unit has an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP67, which means it's protected against dust and temporary immersion in water. The sensor also features reverse polarity and short circuit overload protection so you can safely use it in your application. Sensors like these are often used in livestock breeding facilities and you may also find them in transport, storage and warehouses.
