How do I know when the crimp contact is ready to be extracted?

Align the tool with the terminal and insert the tool into the connector until the locking tabs are depressed, rotating the tool in the process. This will allow the terminal push-out pin to push the terminal back through the connector hole. If the locking tabs are not fully depressed, tightly grip the wires and push them towards the extraction tool.

Housings of the Standard .062" system are polarized and locking is by passive (friction) lock between the plug and the socket via a projection moulded on to the socket. The Standard .062" system housings take male or female round crimp terminals which allows for orientation in any direction.
