    Bearing Units

Bearing units are a type of mechanical part that are used in the production of various mechanical instruments and devices. Bearing units help to support the shaft that rotates inside the machinery. Bearings allow for the injection of motion between different parts and transmit energy for mechanical operation.

Bearing units are used in automotive applications as well as everyday household appliances which include refrigerators and vacuum cleaners.

RS stock a range of bearing units such as flanged and take up units in various sizes and popular materials such as cast iron, stainless steel and zinc plated steel to meet all your bearing solution requirements in order to help machines run more smoothly.

    Bearing Unit Types include

Flanged Bearing units - can have 2, 3 or 4 mounting holes. These can withstand high vibrations, high temperatures and high axial loads and are great for Automotive applications.

Take up units - consist of an insert bearing and housing and are often used where shaft or belt adjustment and tightening is required. Take up units ensure adequate tension of the belt thus avoiding any slippage of the belt. These units are often installed within conveyor systems.

    What is a flange bearing?

A flange bearing has a kind of lip on the outer ring of the bearing which helps the mounting and positioning of a bearing in certain delicate applications. They are typically used when the task requires the bearing to be locked in place to help withstand axial thrusting as the flange will stop the bearing from moving axially.

    Applications

Bearing units support the rotating shafts of the wheels, gears, turbines and rotors in machines which lets them to rotate more smoothly. Bearing units are used in various industrial applications as well as:

    • Food processing machinery
    • Conveyors
    • Textile equipment
    • Belt drives in HVAC
