Why should I use a three-position switch rather than a two-position switch?
Using a three-position switch with the 'off' position in the middle makes it more difficult to select the incorrect position or circuit. This is because there is a clearer differentiation between the two positions and the operator has to click the switch twice to change the circuit, minimising the risk of human error.
