Processor Supervisors are integrated circuits (ICs) which monitor microprocessors and microcontrollers (MCUs). It is essential that particular parameters are monitored by processor supervisors to ensure that these parameter boundaries are not exceeded. Exceeding some parameters can result in failure or even a dangerous result.
One of the primary things that a processor supervisor will monitor is voltage. For example, a supervisory circuit monitor may monitor voltages with a threshold of 1.6V to 5V. If the CPUs circuit voltage falls outside of these limits, the supervisor would create an output signal, for example, a reset output.
What is the Microprocessor?
CPUs (central processing units) are computer processors which feature multiple functionalities within a single IC. Microprocessors are a type of CPU. They are a central processing unit which often forms the brains of a number of devices, such as computers. These are often crucial components within a circuit and therefore it is important to monitor them.
