Desktop Timers

A desktop timer is a device used to measure either time elapsed or count down from a set time. Desktop timers can also include a standard clock, calendar and alarm, providing a versatile device suitable for a range of applications.


How do they work?


Desktop timers work by displaying a time on a digital screen or sometimes via analogue methods. They are programmable in that you as the user has the option to modify the output and get certain functions back from the device. Many include an interface with buttons used to operate the timer including start, stop, reset, mode and more.


Types of Desktop Timer


Digital timers – These tend to be digital displaying devices with LCD screens or other such types of display. They are completely programmable via buttons and functions digitally. They are more common than the alternative analogue.


Analogue timers – These timers do not usually have screens or LCD displays, they have some kind of manual input like a clock dial that you twist round and it then releases and counts down from the set time.
